Guys
Took car back yesterday and they say
That the sensor was stuck they have
Not put a new one in but they say that it is now working
I have filled the tank 498 miles on the count down so now we are going to drive it until the fuel warning light comes on if it works
I will keep you updated

Be wary of letting your tank getting low enough to display the fuel warning light coming on.
In France earlier this year, my tank level was telling me I had enough fuel to last 79kms, when suddenly I had a warning flash up telling me there wasn't enough fuel to get me to my destination, which was only 5kms away.
Momentary panic until I saw there was a fuel station nearby.
I don't know how accurate that warning was and if it was being over cautious, but I never want to run out of fuel, especially abroad.
Other than that blip, my fuel gauge acts normally.

Thanks for the info but I think I am going to keep a gallon of spare fuel in the back then run the tank right down if I konk out I then will know my lower limitations

Not a good idea to run your tank dry. Not so bad on a new car because the tank won't yet have had a chance to sludge up, but there's always a chance that there's foreign bodies or swarf in the tank which you really don't want to sucked up into the injectors. You could be faced with a decent bill if that happens.
My incident in France was an exception as I never let my tank get below a quarter full.

Not surprising you had fuel light come on at 79kms as that equates to 49 miles left, which is approx 1 gallon in tank so that is probably what low full sensor is set for.

It wasn't a fuel light, it was a written warning that I didn't have enough fuel to get me to my destination which was only 5 kms away ! Too close for comfort if it was accurate.
Yes, a low level warning light with a gallon left is acceptable.

I fear I have the same issue. Only filled up twice, but both times the fuel gague showed 3/4 full despite squeezing every drop out of the pump. Available miles also only shows about 300. I know the tank is pretty small (55 litres?) but something seems wrong to me.

Mines been back into the dealers twice with exactly the same problem 3/4 full with 344 miles, I spoke to the technician his words where the float is catching the side of the tank and apparently the techs at head office are aware and they are waiting for Hyundai to come up with a solution, I said can’t you change the float if not the tank his answer Hyundai won’t let them. I’ve complained to head office customer service but they just keep telling me to contact the dealer, I’m going round in circles with no answers

There's a system and a heirachy to be followed at Hundai and other marques as well.
It's not so much that Hyundai won't let the dealer carry out work, but if it's not okayed by Hyundai beforehand, then they won't pay the dealer for any parts and labour used, so the dealer is out of pocket.
Even if the dealer is 100% certain what a problem is and they repair it without getting the nod from Hyundai it will likely be the same result.
Very frustrating from a customer perspective !!

One of the family that owns my dealership was telling me last week how difficult Hyundai are to deal with, but so are other manufacturers he said.

It seems that this problem is continuing. Had a new sender unit installed, but the next time I filled up it still only read 3/4. Got the car booked in later this month. Anyone else had this problem recently? How was it fixed?

I know that on some makes, the gauge can be adjusted to read full (Definitely on VW/Audi - because I've done it). I don't know about Hyundai. (3/4 full sounds further adrift than tolerance in the components though.)
