Toll Tags

I have used Tags for Tolls for a number of years and never had a problem until now.
My new Tucson Ultimate has a very narrow "mottled" area around the rear view mirror where the tag normally goes. It's impossible to fit a tag in the normal way and have it covered by the shading.
Has anyone else had this problem?
The only suggestion I can come up with is to fit the tag vertically instead of horizontally but I don't know if it will still work that way.
Not sure why Hyundai decided to install such a small area.
