I live at the top of a hill. In the summer, I can set off and run on the battery for quite a while before the engine wakes up.
When the temp drops below 10c, the engine fires up and it doesn't use the battery at all for about 3 miles. If the temp is 11c, then it works as well as when it's 20c. Below 10c - nope.
So, that's why I think there's some s/w in there which is looking at the temperature and saying "oh, I don't want to get the battery out just yet - lets use up petrol until the engine has warmed up a bit". Of course, if your journey is only 2-3 miles, then you take a big mpg hit in autumn/winter - more than I would expect. So, nipping out to the chippie is expensive

I own a 2022 Ultimate Hybrid with Tech Pack - in Red (best colour).
Also have two motorcycles. Honda CB1300 and Honda CBF1000 (also red, of course).
Yesterday I banked the electric on way home as wanted to keep full for the trip in today
I put into HEV and when I was about 40 miles from work I put in electric mode this is on M4 50mph and 70mph
It’s stayed in electric and used it all up but at rough estimate it was used up in 30 real miles rather than the 35 electric banked if that makes sense

Think your right on temperature
Yesterday got in car at 15:00 temp stated 14 degrees drove on fully electric for about 1.5 miles and the car clearly updated temperature to 9 degrees and engine kicked in, then dropped to 6 degrees

When I get in car I normally put in HEV and bank electric till closer to home or some local travel on evening
Yesterday I just started the car and went, no mode was stated so I assume it’s auto ? But it did not show on screen
All battery used up on motorway
41.3 motorway miles mix of 70mph and 50mph
12 miles B & A roads
Was a lot of stop start on B & A roads due to traffic incidents

While I'm getting used to all the features, I wondered if anyone has come across a coolant temperature gauge on any of the displays. I hope hyundai haven't gone down the route of using a warning light, which is normally too late.

From steering wheel : first button on right hand side. Use to scroll through to 'i' and then up or down with ok toggle.

Thanks for that. Not a place I would have thought to look in
