I wonder if that will be fed back......although even it is, I’m not sure Hyundai will be moved. As it only ever happens on breaking the law, I doubt that most decent motorists would ever be troubled by it.

The dealer did mention that he knew someone who was a wiz at electronics and might be able to 'do something'. I pointed out that my insurance company wouldn't be impressed and he quickly changed the subject.

Although I'm not in the market for a replacement car, it struck me that I may encounter the Speed Limiter, when I'm next given a courtesy car. Having never tried the system (I use the Smart Cruise Control to keep my speed down), I thought I'd better educate myself. For Speed Limit Assist (as opposed to Speed Limit Warning), the manual says intriguing things like :-
The manual wrote:If you would like to drive over the
preset speed limit, depress the
accelerator pedal beyond the pressure
point to activate the kickdown mechanism
.
So, you can be potentially trundling along at 19.9mph, slowly press the pedal - with no change at all - and then suddenly unleash all 226hp :?:
I'm going to have to find an empty bit of road and see how all this works in practice :!:

I'm thinking you just hook a little something to the EOBD port and inject "Limiter OFF" button presses onto the CANBUS for a few seconds. (I think I've found my next project) ;)

An update (from down-under) ...

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/h ... ng-feature

Weirdly though, it's talking about the Speed Limit Warning function. On my car, it seems to be an actual Limiter.

(The options in the menu seem to only affect how the limit is changed, not whether it is implemented as an actual limit, or just bongs - despite the wording seeming to suggest otherwise).
