Hi folks. We recently had an email from the dealer we bought our 71 Plug-in from offering to supply/fit a Nextbase 380 GW front and rear camera for £433. I'm sold on the idea of a dash cam but have no idea whether what the dealer is offering is the best make/model to go for or whether it's a decent price. I've looked at some postings on the forum already but am not really much the wiser. Can anyone advise please?
Thanks
Keith

The 380 seems to be a cam for commercial vehicles?
Nextbase 522GW Front & Rear Dash Cam Bundle fitted at Halfords is £339.

If your handy you can do it yourself for a reasonable price. I tapped into the rear view mirror with a dongar technology cable which was roughly £30. I then bought a front and rear camera which was less than £100. Didn't take long to fit, infact the dongar adaptor took longer than routing the rear camera. Had it in a while thus far and it's inobtrusive and just works and footage is great.

Hi
Got dashcam 380 GWX fitted by Arnold Clark Hyundai in Glasgow for £380. Its designed for commercial use but is a excellent dashcam plus you aren't distracted by a screen. Halfords does it cheaper but they don't fit them into Hybrid cars in Glasgow.

I'm with Peter/Christine. The 380GWX is a superb dashcam because of its small footprint & ability. Link to it by smartphone app and download what you need front & / or rear footage in HD. I wanted this model because I didn't want / need a screen and it tucks neatly behind the rear view mirror.
Had it nearly 8 months and v happy with choice.
Had mine fitted by dealer as a package deal including rear LED bootlid lights for around £440 if I remember. Hope this helps

Does this type of dashcam hold some sort of charge for when the car isn't attended?EJH wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 10:39 pm I'm with Peter/Christine. The dashcam I fitted has a parking mode hardwire kit which is £20. So, that would replace the dongar rear view mirror cable I'm currently using. The park mode cable has low voltage detection so it 'should' protect the somewhat fragile battery on the Hybrid. After fitting mine with the dongar adapter, I'm considering changing the cable to the parking mode cable to see how it performs. I've attached some pictures of the install. No screen, connect via WiFi to the cam and download footage or take out the supplied memory card and use a PC. It also supports voice commands so no need to press any buttons eg: take a picture or lock the recording. So, if you buy the park mode cable at £20, the dashcam is currently £89, thats £109 for 4k front/hd rear dashcam with 64GB memory card included. Obviously I installed myself so saved the installation charge.
