I finally picked up my Tucson ultimate hybrid after 9 months of waiting. It’s fantastic to drive but so many things to set up and understand! My biggest problem at the moment is connecting my iPhone. Been through the process several times and it’s obviously connected as every time I get in car my audible book starts playing which is annoying as I don’t want it to (Anybody who knows how I can stop this happening I would greatly appreciate it TIA). I have to press media button and press pause to stop it which is annoying! On the Main screen there is no CarPlay icon which is worrying to go onto other apps in my phone as I use maps a lot. Do I need to connect phone using cable as I’ve presumed I wouldn’t need to? Please help!! I’ve disconnected by phone again tonight so I can start afresh tomorrow. Thanks

Carplay/android auto on the uk version is via hardwire USB cable only, via the front left USB Port. Only the smaller infotainment unit, not available to uk market Tuscons, gets wireless CP/AA.

It will show as phone projection when no phone is hardwire connected. Once connected it will change to apple carplay, in my case android auto.

Yeah what you’re hearing is audio via phone projection (Bluetooth). For the CarPlay connectivity you just need to plug your phone in as explained above. Once you do this the display defaults to CarPlay. I’ve set up the ‘star’ favourite button in the middle to be a CarPlay short cut so I can always get to it with a single touch.

To stop you phone projecting via Bluetooth you just need to leave it on a different audio setting ie radio or CarPlay, then it’ll stop playing your audio book. Basically it defaults to the last audio selected each time you get in.

Thanks. So do I have to use cable every time to use CarPlay. I presumed they’d just be an CarPlay app icon to press on infontaiment Home Screen. I’m a bit confused about how to stop audio book playing. Not very good with tech stuff on phone. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, CarPlay needs a USB cable to connect the phone to the car. I keep a short connected cable to the left hand UBS port and just connect the phone whenever I want to use CarPlay.

There is some initial set up to do via your phone, but that’s fairly quick and only needs doing once. Follow this guide to help you connect and configure - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT205634
