Mine is definitely a nudge. Similar experience with MG, RAV4, Cashqai, all of which do much the same so very used to it over last 8 years. I don't use autohold either. I find if I am on a slight incline, the car moves back a tad before the engine engages. If I use the handbrake, it disengages when the car is trying to move forward so, it doesn't go back at all.
I use autohold in start stop traffic basically to so that I don't have to keep my foot on the brake pedal. Rest of the time it is left off.
