Hi I’m looking at a Tucson HEV or PHEV

Can anyone let me know if the engine uses a cam belt or cam chain?

If it's a belt. When does it need changing and how much does it cost?

It's a chain - the engine features variable valve timing as well as variable valve duration.

Great a chain is good as I assume that doesn’t need changing?

It will need changing eventually but typically at high mileage - 100,000+ or so but Hyundai will have a view on this as the 5 year warranty is unlimited mileage.
In other engines I've been involved with it's the guides, which may be plastic, that wear first but that depends on the engine config.

We have recently been told our 48V MHEV engine has a failed belt tensioner.
The West London dealership do not have delivery times on spare parts arriving from Korea. This is a worry, as we have no idea when we will get our vehicle back.
Has anyone else experienced a similar engine fault?
Have you also been informed of "No delivery dates" for parts arriving from Korea?
or excessive wait times for this Hyundai Engine Warranty repai/parts issue?
