Can you drive purely on electric and if so what’s the range?
The small battery would suggest a max range of 2 miles?

I don’t believe there is an electric only mode on the self charging hybrid; the car automatically decides on the optimum use/balance of electric power and petrol engine. Clearly when the green EV comes on you are using stored electric power but I am unaware of any means by which the driver can opt for electric only; even if you could I would imagine the range would be very low.

No, you can't select EV-only mode.

That’s my thoughts too
It’s use is for quick power boost on accelerating and for stop start traffic or parking only.
Dealer tried to say it could do about 12 miles on electric only?

No way it can do 12 miles. I just did a local 5 mile journey and I reckon it did about 2.5 miles on battery, but not all at the same time - and I got an overall consumption of 52 mpg. The battery gauge was hovering around the middle mark.

You must be really light touch on the throttle to achieve 52mpg!

I did a 200 mile round trip this week, mostly motorway at a steady 70-75mph and only returned ~41-42mpg.

I got my Tucson on Tuesday this week and did a 9 mile town driving journey and got 57mpg.

Because of the slower average speed I.e. around 30mph max, the car goes into EV mode more than it would on your long journey at high speed.

When I drove back from working a night shift the other day I got 60mpg on a 4 mile journey.

Today I have driven 131 miles to Llandudno mix of motorway and A roads and got 52mpg.

So those figures are not outlandish.

Yep - another 5 mile journey and and got 62mpg. Best yet.

Nor strictly true. You describe a mild hybrid there.
I can drive around 2 miles on EV even at relatively high speeds.
