Have you thought about asking the dealer to fit? We got our front and rear cameras installed as part of the deal. They’ve done a tidy job and no worries about the warranty as it’s they who have fitted them.
My local dealer doesn't install them (I called). I should have asked the supplying dealer but never thought beforehand however they are 100 miles away and so not worth it now.

I've just installed mine and the most important thing is it seems to work. :D My kit is the same as joolstdi. I didn't have time to take pictures as I was doing it. I've tried to take a few pictures of the finished job but they are not great.

I couldn't fit my fat fingers in the opening to pop the plastic trim so used one of the tools on my penknife to hook from behind. It only took the slightest of effort to free the bottom, it was then easy to take the panel out using my hands. I wore rubber medical gloves to try and not dirty/scratch anything.

I didn't fancy taking the outer casing off and found that I could hide the two white connectors underneath the panel just leaving the black USB plug in the cockpit. Some may not like this and want to hide it totally. I found that it was just long enough to stick the USB plug to the upper rear of the mirror using double sided 3M tape/pad. I'd been searching for a dashcam for a while and went with the Nextbase 222x front and rear as it was a Which best buy. I didn't fancy tackling running the wiring for a dedicated cam under the headlining on my new car and so it's going to have to suffice.

The two pictures showing the wiring with the rear view mirror twisted to give an idea. The other two are what it looks like when the mirror is adjusted for me ready to drive. To make the job neater I swapped out the supplied USB leads for the shortest one I could find amongst the dozens and dozens of old USB leads I've collected over the years.

Any question feel free to ask, however I'm no expert as you can probably tell and this was probably the limit of my capabilities, anymore and I would have been out of my comfort zone.

Great job I must say. Quick question though, isn't the rear camera supposed to be, well, at the rear?

No, it has a telephoto lens and is designed to plug into the front facing camera and share power from the dock.

I have the same model as Yorkie and the add-on rear facing camera is so much easier than wiring in a normal rear view camera, although not cheap at around £60.
Another good thing about this model, is that the actual camera is separate to the mounting base that attaches to the window. The camera attaches to the base magnetically and is easily removed when you leave the car to deter thieves. The power cable is plugged into the base, not the actual camera.
I wish I'd bought Nextbase earlier in my dash cam journey, it's so much better that the 3 previous makes I've owned.
I also wish this method of wiring in a dash cam had been bought to my attention before I routed my cable all around the window trims :(

That's interesting, thanks both. I have a nextbase that has rear camera, but that's exactly the reason I can't be bothered to install it, the cable hiding throughout the whole car. Interesting solution, will look into it.
