I have been looking into the fitting of a detachable tow bar for my car only to put on a trailer, the dealer is going to sort out the fitting before I get the car with a local company.

Hyundai do a detachable one, the only problem is the electric plug you need to get he Hyundai electric plug in one part number is 13 Pin wiring kit
N7621ADE00PC £240.42 including vat and Detachable towbar N7281ADE00 £541.30 inc vat.

the tow bar is a westfillia towbar just in case you can get it cheeper. these are just parts no labour to fit and will do the hybrid and plug in and will do the N line model.

If you get the Hyundai plug in electrics it just plugs in to the car plug underneath the car rear left hand side there is a plug there. the difference is Hyundai work as a plug and play with any of the aftermarket wiring loams you will run a switch to the front and this will need to be put on when you are using the towbar as it affects the rear sensors.

hope this helps.

No its just plug and play, on the Hyundai wiring loam
I think I will be getting this loam as I don't fancy a extra switch in the front to kill the rear sensors..
my Tiguan had to be reprogrammed to cut the rear parking sensors.

How does the car compare to the Tiguan?

I’m one of the many people that has ordered one.
My car is the plug in ultimate with the tech pack so should not have it until august plus. The car I test drove was a N line hybrid and was lovely to drive.
The cabin plastics where very plush and no noise.

Hi all going back to this topic of the towbar. as for pulling weight the hybrid is set at 1650 max pulling.
And the plug in is set at 1350 within the European regulations.

BUT I found out that its classed at 1350 and 1650 when in hybrid (sport) only pulling on Hyundai's website.
But in the USA it's set at 2000 same car, same engine ect.
Which is all confusing.

So my question is
Anybody on here fitted a towbar on the car and towed say a caravan?

The US Tucson is bigger (longer wheel base) than the European version and the HEV is 4 wheel drive rather than 2WD that we have.
This may be why is has a greater towing capacity.
