Literally just finished washing the car and found this, I can't tell if it's a crack or deep scratch but I never wash the car using hot water or dirty cleaning cloths, thought I might have caught the black surround on the inside when I was cleaning the windscreen but it's lower than the dashboard and definitely has a ridge on the outside, anyone else had a similar thing happen?
Ouch - a couple of the scratches on mine appear similar from the inside in bright sunlight, albeit they aren't as long as that. Mine aren't really very visible from the outside, but it could be because they are on the screen itself, rather than the black part. I assume they catch a fingernail when you run it over them?

Hi David3,
If it was my car I would call our a local mobile windscreen replacement tech. Offer them a call out fee to have a professional verdict given.
That's not 'normal' or should be acceptable. Trouble with many dealers in the network is lack of specialist knowledge, particularly glazing.
Hope you get it resolved favourably to you.

Yes you can just feel a slight ridge, I'm assuming they're some sort of stress crack but I don't know how or why, it's going in on Monday for the knock on the rear so we'll see what they make of the crack

Thanks for that, the car is in to the dealer on Monday for the knocking on the rear so we'll see what they say about the cracks of they're not helpful I'll contact a windscreen specialist and see what their view is

Update on the crack, the car has been into the garage today for another issue but my wife mentioned the cracked windscreen the technician/mechanic said straight away it looks like an heating element fault in the glass so should be a warranty issue they're just waiting to hear from Hyundai to get the go-ahead to replace it, tbh I didn't know that the Tucson had a heated screen

The Tucson surely does not have a heated windscreen. If it does, then how do you activate it? There is no on/off switch anywhere plus the defog function just uses air. Be interested to see what Hyundai say in regards to a warranty claim.

Neither did I. Indeed, I don’t think it has as the climate control system seems very similar to that in my previous KIA Optima, auto-defogging clearing the inside of the screen.

However, it now has me wondering if there is an element at the bottom of the screen specifically to β€˜un-stick’ the wipers in frost conditions. I can’t say that I ever came across that in the owner’s manual though I never got past page 376 before falling asleep!πŸ€”πŸ™„πŸ˜

These specs from Carwow, which I assume are copied from Hyundai, make no mention of a heated screen in any model. My N Line S certainly hasn't got one, but if any model had a heated screen I would expect it to be the Ultimate.

I thought I had read the same thing somewhere about it having a heating element to stop the wiper blades sticking but I couldn't find anything last night when I was looking, we'll see what Hyundai have to say
