Does anybody else think the paint is naff on the bodywork on the new Tucsons?
It seems like you only have to touch it for it to scratch. Looks like there only one coat of thin paint on the bodywork/

Absolutely agree. The quality is low really. I've got many little chips from the smallest of stones already. Had a gentle knock on the driver's door against a gate entry machine where I work and it's taken paint off to the metal. It really was a little knock to . The quality is certainly not there but for the price compared to other marks it's understandable even if a tad annoying.

Car paintwork has gone through many stages of 'improvement' over the years. From Cellulose 2 pack, high level isocyanite content, solvent based. All the way through to the current water based colour & low isocyanite clearcoats.
All driven by the 'need' to reduce environmental impact. They call the current lacquer / clearcoat as having 'self healing' (?) properties.
Unfortunately, most low to medium class manufacturers only coat in one hit.
If your car gets repaired by a good bodyshop, you'll get 2 good coats as standard.
Everything coating a car body these days, is based on weight saving and environment box ticking.

As a sidenote, if you do have a chip down to metal, get it protected ASAP with a touch in like chipex or similar. Not doing so is like leaving bird droppings on the paintwork, eventually it'll cost.
