Hi all after some advice/opinions - let me explain.....

I recently purchased my first SUV, being a Mokka X 2019 model. I am really struggling to get used to the ride which I find very uncomfortable around town. It is really bumpy and gittery and even the smallest pothole or bump in the road sends a shudder through the cabin! I have had it inspected and suspension, tyre pressure etc is all fine (well tyre pressure was reduced but made little difference).

I have only had it 3 months but I am seriously thinking of cutting my losses and selling it and buy another SUV or reverting back to a decent sized hatchback. The Tucson was a model I was considerin before I purchased the Mokka, but it didn't seem as good value for money on a 'like for like' spec offered (but might be a far better ride though!?) and seemed a bit bulky for around town driving.

What is the drive like on the Tucson (looking at models 2017 upwards automatic)? My concern is that this type of bumpy ride is a character of the SUV and I may just end up with the same issue. If it's not - and the Tucson is worth considering any recommendations on models/trim? I mainly do urban town driving, no more than 5,000 miles per year.

Hi just bought a brand new tucson hybrid ultimate, this car is fantastic until it moves. This car invents imperfections in the road, my internal organs are constantly being reorganised. The ultimate comes with 19" wheels as standard, I'm going trying the same car with 17" wheels and hope it's a bit softer. I'll keep you informed.

Shame it hasn't got active suspension if that's an option?

I have 19" and the ride is firm.

I believe it is available if you get the Tech pack which is a £1300 factory option. I considered it but the 12 week wait rather than 4 weeks was a bit too long, plus none of the dealers that I spoke to knew much about it and none had seen a Tucson with it fitted.

I have an Ultimate and I find the ride to be like a big comfy sofa. Smooth and cannot feel the bumps.

But then my last car was a Golf Gti performance.

Check out the tyre psi manufacturers will over fill them not knowing how long they might take to sell. Mine were 39 to 41 but the recommendation is 33

I originally posted that the Tucson ultimate was the worst ride ever. It went back to dealer who told me "no fault found". In my desperation I wondered how far I could reduce the tyre pressures without warning lights coming on. I was shocked to find the following pressures, 45, 47, 48, 50, I dropped them to 33 and everything is hunky dory.

Mine all had 45psi. Reduced to 35psi as per the recommend pressure on the sticker on the car.

Not surprised though. When I picked mine up, the speedo was set to km/h.
