hi - newby to this forum . anyone with a tuscon have issues with the doors just not opening and being stuck shut. key fob works but the doors just wont open either from the fob or manual opening from inside. Huge safety issue and i cant use the car as i have 2 young children with car seats in the back and i cant open the doors and if i were to have an accident i couldnt get them out. i have done a bit of research and have seen from US & Canadian forum that Hyundai have extended the 5yr warranty to 10yrs for this problem which is linked to a the actuator part in the door. I spoke with my local dealer who have been as helpful as a chocolate tea pot - just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has advice as how best to deal with it. many thanks

I was going to ask the same question and also, where are you based.
Try another dealer, some of them are real numpties. Have you tried the actual key that's inside the fob (if your car has one) ?
I'm assuming that your car is no longer under warranty, but as this is a safety issue, I'd be taking this up with Hyundai UK if you have no joy from a dealer.
In the interim, carry a hammer or some such object that you can use to break the windows should you be involved in an accident - not ideal but better than nothing.

there is no key hole on the back doors to be able to open them manually. ( is that what you meant with trying the actual key in the fob????)

i just spoke with Hyundai UK and gave them the details of the US situation of a known fault and they simply said sorry 2 separate companies not linked and its just a co-incidence that same make & model & year of registration car and same fault has happened to your car as has happened to thousands in the US...GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Have you checked the fuses? As there could be a short somewhere in the system. Otherwise maybe try (or get a garage too) removing the rear door cards, and see if the doors can be opened that way.

Not exactly. there is only one actual keyhole which is on the drivers door handle. I had hoped that by using the actual key to unlock the drivers door it would open all doors, but having just tried it on my car, I see it only opens the drivers door.
Regardless of what's happening to cars in the USA, the fact remains that you have a safety issue which needs to be resolved and the attitude from Hyundai UK stinks. What they claim about being two different companies is a throwaway comment, as to my knowledge all Hyundai manufacturers in the world are owned by Hyundai in South Korea. Okay, the UK importer and importers in other countries are separate entities.
Unfortunately you are out of guarantee, so realistically you have no comeback against Hyundai. You could threaten legal action or taking your case to the papers or TV, but I think you'll have little joy against a large company such as Hyundai. Some goodwill would have been great, but you'll be told that your car is 7 years old and things do go wrong and break/wear out.
It looks like you're on your own I'm afraid, so I'd be looking to take the car to an independent Hyundai specialist or a recommended auto electrician.
If no joy there, put a hammer in the car as I said or sell the car.

I just reread this post and I'm failing to understand how the key fob is working if you can't then open the doors ? How do you enter the car if the doors won't open, Have you tried your spare fob ?
Do you hear the door lock motors actuating when you press the fob ?
If you've read that this issue is occurring in the USA, why don't you ask on the forums where you've seen it how owners over there got over their problem ?

Have you had the fault repaired and it's still not working? I had a Freelander 2 that the boot wouldn't open due to a fault in the electrics despite the key fob working. I had it repaired under an extended warranty I purchased. That was a known fault, although clearly not as dangerous. I'm not defending Hyundai but would expect you to have to get a report/quote first to identify the problem. If the dealer you went to couldn't diagnose the fault as others have said take it to another.

Just read your post. I had a 2016 Tucson Premium and with a rear door which would not open from the outside or inside. This happened three months after my 5 year warranty expired. There was a fix I found on YouTube which necessitated removing the door panel and modifying the door mechanism. However whilst this allowed me to open the door from the inside, I was still unable to access it from the outside. As this condition is a fail on the MOT, I had to pay for the fitting of a replacement door latch actuator, at a cost of £454.73. This seems a common fault which Hyundai UK will not recognise.
