Hi All,
I picked up my new Tucson Hybrid Ultimate with tec pack in Mid June, still trying to work out all it has to offer.
I had a Nissan X Trail Tekna for last 3 years before that no issues would have purchased another but don't make them anymore,
so I wanted at least the same spec or more and I think I got more.
I like what I have purchased so far and first time for many years having auto and not even a gear knob seems odd but it seems to work well.
Most of the things do what they are supposed to so far, but a strange thing happen the other day near me there is a road tunnel and approaching it with the windows open all of a sudden the windows all closed so did the same on return journey and same thing happened again, so tried it a few more times same thing I also tried it with the windows closed and a notice came up on the screen fans turned off to avoid bad air (or words to that affect) fan came on once through the tunnel but windows didn't open.
Things not so keen on the rear window wiper sweep area is not the best, and the front wipers when parked sit under one another so when you wash the car need to make a point of ensuring the blades are back in the right position of it will pull the blade off.
And those chilled seats are brass monkey brrrr

I don't normally do the Forum thing but I'm interested to hear if anyone like me, is dissappointed with their new Tuscon?

I was traditionally a Honda CRV driver having had three new CRV EX models, one after the other. I now have a Tuscon N Line mild hybrid. My test drive was good and the reviews and youtube videos on this car had nothing but positive reviews but after having done almost 3500 miles since I bought the car in June this year, I'm seriously dissappointed and I've already decided I won't be buying another one .

The first and most annoying thing with this car is the ride. It's a bone shaker. Every bump on the road is transfered right through the vehicle and on to the seats. It's the most uncomfortable and sometimes painful ride I've ever experienced in a car. I drive in and around Edinburgh where the roads are in a terrible state of repair but my Honda alway took the bumps well, this Hyundai does not and I don't know of another car that's this bad.

My mpg is also not good at just under 33mpg in total. Yes it's automatic and petrol but I drive carefully and my honda averaged 42mpg. For this size of engine and it being a susposed "mild" hybrid 33mpg to my mind, is extreemly poor.

The speed recognition software is a joke. The car regularly gets it wrong, telling me I'm on a 30 mph road when it's 60 mph. I've even had the car tell me I'm on an 80 mph road when driving on the motorway. This happens on a daily basis. My last 2017 Honda had speed recognition software and I never had this problem. The car wasn't cheap, in fact, I felt it was rather expensive for a Hyundai.

My remote tailgate open and close on the keyfob, often will just beep once and not close the tailgate. When that happens, you have to then close the tailgate manually. THis has happened five to six times in less than three months.

Are their any good points? Well Yes, it looks great, the tach (if it worked) is amazing and I have an opening panoramic sunroof. The interior design is well thought out and it has Apple Play which does thankfully work.

All my negative points will be brought up with the dealer when the car goes in for it's first service but I'm curious why none of the reviews have picked up on these problems. The suspension problem I would have thought would have been mentioned but it needs more than a test drive to realise how big a problem that is.

When you wash the car do you put the front wipers into the cleaning/maintenance position?

I must admit wipers were not put in cleaning mode didn't know it had one but will be looking how to do it, Thank you

I must admit that I find the ride in my tucson petty good could it be something to do with the N line having a more sportier suspension ?
Mine is showing 51 mpg on the read out but have not got round to doing it myself yet.
To get my tailgate to close I have to keep my finger on the key fob button until it is closed.
Speed recognition has a few times got it wrong.

To put the wipers in cleaning mode press the engine start button twice so the car powers on, no need to actually start the engine, then press the button to turn it off. Then press down the wiper stalk until the blades move to cleaning mode. The rear blade moves down as well.

To put the blades back repeat the procedure. Jobs a good un. :D

I've got the 230 Premium and the ride is very smooth. If I shift the auto box into sports mode then I'm sure you can feel the suspension tighten up a bit as the ride is definitely 'tighter'.

Economy-wise the honeymoon period has seen me drive it like a bit of a looney but it's telling me I'm still doing around 42mpg. Just filled it up yesterday and already for the same amount of petrol I used to put into the Qashqui I've done in excess of 200 miles more so the better economy and electrics must be helping me out there without a shadow of a doubt.

Speed recognition seems to be behaving itself so your detection module up behind the rear view mirror may need to be recalibrated? Again with the Qashqui I had to replace the windscreen back in January and found my rain sensors and speed detection worked a lot better than before the replacement. Ok two different car models but its a common Bosch system I believe.

Basic question but have you checked the tyre pressures? There have been a couple of reports on here about them being set very high, presumably for storage, and not re-checked on handover. Mine were much higher than spec when I checked.

I must admit it took me sometime to get 5 minutes to try to put wipers in cleaning mode I tried Twobob40 suggestion and also the method in the manual and no luck.
So I will set aside more than 5 minutes hopefully soon in case I am doing something and try both methods again.

Hi
Mine works OK. Switch off engine, flick down the wiper switch within a few seconds and the front and rear wipers go to cleaning position.
