Ordered a Tuscon ultimate manual on 22 june 2023, in teal blue, apparently there was one in this colour ready to build with an estimated delivery in October. the auto version would have been closer to 8 or 10 months, my existing car is a Nissan Qashqai teckna plus which is beset with irritating minor electrical issues which a full software upgrade has only partially cured.
hoping for better reliabilty with my first Hyundai

I had the exact same model (Qashqai), and while it served it's purpose and actually had a couple of useful extras (360 cameras being one), the Tucson is on another level, looks wise inside and out.

The only real issues I had with the Qashqai was a known exhaust issue which wasn't a cheap fix, otherwise it was a decent car.

It looks like you've got a good deilvery time too, most seem to still be 8+ months.

There's a wealth of info on here, get yourself some accessories, and enjoy when it arrives!

I have to say that I agree totally with the efficacy of the surround camera gizmo which I found to be a real boon, having to parallel park alongside razor-sharp kerbstones every day.

My previous KIA was so equipped and I I really imagined that the Ultimate model of the Tucson would have that feature. Clearly, I didn’t read the specification list in its entirety and it is one feature I really miss in the Tucson. There are some other features, the lack of which in the Tucson really disappoints me but I won’t whinge too much as I’m coming to understand the various gadgets and safety features and how they are accessed in the Tucson.

I did really miss it at first, but to be honest it's only ever useful for me now if I front park.

It basically gives you no worry at all parking wherever you want though, and I agree it's dissapointing not to be included when so many other things are.

They come with the tech pack.
Alan

I own a 2022 Ultimate Hybrid with Tech Pack - in Red (best colour).
Also have two motorcycles. Honda CB1300 and Honda CBF1000 (also red, of course).

They do, but why would you not include this in your top spec model? It's not really missed for me, but would just have made sense instead of money grabbing 'add-ons'.

I've never even heard parking assist mentioned on here either.

I considered the tech pack but came to the conclusion that I would only use the 360 cameras and so for the £1250 the pack was gonna cost at the time, plus the wait time for a factory order, my cancelled order/quick delivery non tech pack was a no brainer for me. Back in 2021 the Ultimate HEV with tech pack was circa £38k on the road. The same model with tech pack is north of £40k so the luxury car tax now applies. So 5 years of £500+ Road tax is gonna sting a bit.

That was the dilemma with which I was confronted when I finally decided to eschew the top-of-the-range Sportage and go for a Tucson instead. At the time I made enquiries, the all-up price of the Ultimate came in just shy of the £40K VED threshold. However, when I discovered there was a tech pack option, I would have specified it if it hadn’t elevated the all-up price over the threshold.

The same accountancy applied in the case of towbar and electrics so I decided to do without those too and keep the car under £40K - dealer said (1) it would be an addition of over £1,000 and (2) we don’t do towbars any more so pointed me in the direction of the specialist towbar fitting companies.

Basic arithmetic reveals that the tech pack retail price plus the additional VED over 5 years, as you rightly point out, makes for a very expensive option so making do without isn’t really much of a hardship. Besides, I was able to drive my Tucson away 26 days after paying my deposit with the order. Had I wanted one replete with the tech pack, I would have had to wait considerably longer.

Due various company policies over the last many, many years I only ever reverse park. I wanted the tech pack for the side cameras for blind spot monitoring but I wasn’t going to wait 6+ months for it.

Nice to have feature but far from required.
