I'm delighted with my new Tucson Ultimate, and have just covered 2,500 miles touring Scotland and the Western Isles. My wife also enjoys driving it (perhaps a bit too much!!) Fuel consumption of 45 mpg seems fair, though I might have wished for even better.

The sat-nav has been good for touring like this - the voice recognition and guidance has been generally reliable. A small niggle is that it is far too late in telling me when to leave a roundabout, and perhaps understandably it can get confused - for example Tarbert and Tarbet are both in Scotland, but something like 100 miles and a ferry crossing apart!

Also, when on complex motorway interchanges, it can give confusing road information. For example, coming southbound on the M25, going towards Gatwick, after the M4 junction, it told me to follow M3 to Portsmouth (!!), whereas I just need to keep straight down the M25. After some considerable confusion (e.g. was the M25 blocked by an accident, perhaps?) I realised that there was a subsidiary sign for the M3 turnoff, which was totally irrelevant to me. It later changed to the correct route, but anyone who knows the M25 in that area will realise that changing across four lanes in gridlock is no fun.

But my main complaint is that it does not seem possible to add my own Points of Interest directory. They boast about having 2 million of these, but I need about 5,000 specialist ones of my own.
To make matters worse, you can add a 'tour' but as far as I can see, this only allows maybe one destination and two intermediate points. I need about 10 when I go on a certain type of tour.
It seems that the only way to do this would be to add each one as a point of interest in advance.

Given all the wizardry already in the car, surely it isn't impossible for them to allow someone to add their own points of interest? Or simply more points on a tour? My ten-year-old TomTom has that feature and it seems that I might have to revert to that, or else use Google Maps.

After all, it does allow you to export 'favourite destinations' to import to a 'compatible vehicle', but how often would anyone need to do that?

If anyone has a genius way of getting round this issue, I'd love to know about it.

For the guidance, did you compare it with something like Google maps off your phone to see whether that worked any better? It may be a common sat nav issue.

Personally, I like the inbuilt one but I only use it from A to B. I find it re-routes quite intelligently when there's issues ahead.

I'm with Alan here. I find the inbuilt sat nav perfectly adequate and if there's a sat nav on the market that can please everyone, please show it to me.
I'm currently on my second trip to France with mine and it hasn't failed yet to get me to a destination.
Perhaps I expect less from modern technology than some others, all systems vary and so comparing the Tucson system to them is folly.
For what it's worth, this system is head and shoulders above the system that was in my 2015 Santa Fe
I'm also blessed with a wing woman who can read a map, which sadly is a dying art as we come to rely on the technology foisted upon us by people who tell us that it's what we need.

Why would you need 5000 POI's? I just flipped open the Bluelink app and added a POI (favourited) in 2 seconds, but to be honest I've never needed POI's once, I know my destination before I set off and where I need to stop.

Echo the above too, I've been to a lot of places and found it great. I don't bother with Android Auto at all for this very reason.

I use the in-built SatNav for daily use no problems at all, I like it & recognise it's limitations.
However, for our trips to South Italy I will use Google & utilise way points for breaks & hotels on the way which I've pre-programmed for our trip. It again, works well.
I guess like anything new, you change your habits & methodology to suit what's in front of you.
Or try Waze all via Android Auto.

I neither love it or hate it when I compare it to my Tom Tom (old now), Google maps on android auto or sat navs on older cars. I don't like it doesn't do satellite imaging but other than that it's fine. I do like the motorway signage that pops up on it, lane postjoing that goes with it.

Other than long distance, like France next week, then I really just use sat navs for traffic avoidance and time of arrival and both cope quite well, Google and Hyundai but both also annoy me on one route. They both think it's quicker to go through 4 sets of traffic lights than another route that is 500mtrs longer but no traffic lights.

I'm not big on POIs so my routes are often point to point and if I want to visit various locations I just plot them rather than a touring mindset. I don't therefore notice the issue the OP has.

Speaking of long distance I spotted my first UK registered registration plate with the UK badge/flag on it. They really stand out don't they. If I was in the UK I'd nearly just prefer the magnetic temporary badge than that full plate when I'm the EU. I think it's mostly because the flag was coloured so it popped more to the eyes. Speaking of which saw a recent YouTube video of Dover and a driver couldn't make up their mind/be sure which was the new requirement so had both UK and GB on the back of their car.
