There are a few topics about this and thought I'd just create a new one with how I fixed the loss of connection to Android Auto after my phone has updated to Android 12 today. My phone is an OnePlus 8 Pro, but if presumed it works for any phone. If you have any questions let me know.

Here it goes.

First we need to enable developer mode. If you already have it skip to the last two steps.

Go to Settings and scroll to About device (or About phone)

Press on Version

Press 7 times on Build version, this will unlock the Developer options

Go back two times (or to System settings) and scroll to the end, you should see Developer options

Scroll down and disable USB debugging

That's it.

Typed this on my mobile so I'll double check the images and text when I get home, but do ask if you have any questions, please

Why do you think this is the cure?

I'm happy to give it a go, but since my OnePlus 8 (not Pro) went to Android 12, I haven't had an issue. And I have USB debugging turned on. I'll leave it on until the next disconnect and then turn it off.

Cheers

What made you think of USB debugging as the fault?

It had to be something blocking the USB connection. So I thought of the times when you connect an USB to PC and you're being asked about what sort of connection you want (transfer, charging, MTP etc). That was the main idea, I didn't have the developer options so I had to enable them, then I was about to try different options, but it worked from the very first after I disabled USB debugging (which, to be honest, not looking to do anyway at the moment).

Hopefully you won't have the problem. I'm surprised you had no issues, read quite a few messages on various forums about the loss of connection after Android 12 update.

I have had issues - but none since I upgraded to Android 12.
