Re: EVs an expensive mistake?

Right, Xade. No1 son has just had a look at this and the first problem is that although we have the right smart meter, it seems the little box (don't know what it's called, but it says "Type 1" on it) that enables you to access the data is not up to the job of displaying data at the requir...

Re: EVs an expensive mistake?

I'll get my son to read through all of this and see if I can get him to do a dummy run. The potential certainly seems to be there to save some money. I'll get back to you with the outcome but it might take a while. Thanks again.

Re: EVs an expensive mistake?

Thanks for that XADE. We are with British Gas where we transferred to when our previous provider went bust. At our level of usage we would save £1/mnth on BG's "electric driver" tariff as although the off peak rate is cheaper than the std rate we're on, the rest of the time the rate is hig...

EVs an expensive mistake?

We've had our plug-in for almost 2 years now and I'm wondering whether to revert back to petrol/diesel. Before buying the car which we got at a very good price, I did my research and calculations based on the relative prices of electricity and petrol and was happy I'd be saving a worthwhile amount o...

Re: Dash cam.

Thanks for all the replies folks. Sorry about the delay in getting back on this but we have a lot going on at the moment. Nowadays my tinkering with cars is limited to checking tyres /oil etc so need to pay to get jobs done. I'm still tempted to go the "safe" route with a Hyundai dealer so...

Dash cam.

Hi folks. We recently had an email from the dealer we bought our 71 Plug-in from offering to supply/fit a Nextbase 380 GW front and rear camera for £433. I'm sold on the idea of a dash cam but have no idea whether what the dealer is offering is the best make/model to go for or whether it's a decent ...

Re: Plug In

Evening folks. 1 other point to consider before you have the 7kw charger fitted is the size of the main fuse for your property. Ours was only 60 amp and we couldn't use the full 7kw until we had it changed to an 80 amp, which Western Power did FOC, but best to check if the power supplier would charge.

Re: High mpg

The general message in the video is correct-a PHEV is excellent if most of your journeys are short(ish) and that's why we bought ours, but I do feel that it's not right to only take account of petrol consumption when talking about mpg. Our car is showing a consumption figure of something like 113mpg...

Re: Insurance premiums

Hello folks. In the end I decided to take my daughter off the policy, whicxh reduced LV's quote to £260 and I went with that. Still wondering why they increased the premium with my daughter on it by so much when nothing had chamged.

Re: Hello, hello!

Hello to you too! We've got a phev and for these vehicles it's not really possible to calculate a true mpg figure because even when the engine is powering the car the battery will usually be making a contribution unless it's been drained of course. The closest you'll get to an mpg figure is by runni...
